KUALA LUMPUR: For several heart-stopping seconds on Tuesday night, a car dangled precariously on the edge of a second-floor car park at a condominium in Sentul. Before the driver could get out, the car tipped over and tumbled down to the road 15 metres below.

Mohd Shahrul Nizam Mohd Yusof, 28, succumbed to his injuries two hours after being rushed to the Kuala Lumpur Hospital from the Sri Suajaya Condominium on Jalan Sentul.

Shahrul was reversing his Proton Gen.2 into the parking lot when the car suddenly lurched backwards and crashed through the railing.

The car dangled on the edge for several seconds, giving the front passenger just enough time to get out. But before Shahrul himself could escape, the car fell.

Shahrul, a Kuala Lumpur City Hall employee, suffered severe head injuries and died at 12.50am yesterday.

His brother, Mohd Hakim, met at the mortuary yesterday, said Shahrul was the youngest of eight siblings and was staying with four friends in a rented unit.

Shahrul was returning home after dinner with his girlfriend when the accident occurred.

The wrecked car was towed to the Sentul police station.
